In Dino Detectives!, children ages 6–8 become Junior Dino Detectives and investigate ten prehistoric cases using the same basic habit that drives real science: look closely at the evidence and ask, “What does this clue tell me?”
This hands-on elementary dinosaur course combines science, math, literacy, art, movement, and imaginative play into ten approximately 60-minute investigations plus a culminating Museum Day.
Children will excavate dinosaur bones, build fossils, create a giant dinosaur timeline, investigate mysterious footprints, compare dinosaur teeth, measure life-size dinosaurs, create evidence-based paleoart, and discover why a chicken may be the most surprising dinosaur suspect of all.
Along the way, students collect evidence in their Field Notebook, build their own Dino Deck, and fill a personal Fossil Box with the creations and discoveries from each investigation. At the end of the course, everything comes together in the Family Dino Museum, where children become the guides and share what they have discovered.
This is not a sit-down-and-memorize dinosaur unit. Children predict, dig, measure, build, test, draw, question, discuss, and change their minds when the evidence gives them a better answer.
