Game Makers Academy: The Art and Science of Play

$35.00

A 12-Week Inquiry-Based Homeschool Curriculum for Elementary Learners (Ages 5 to 12)

Turn game night into an unforgettable learning adventure with Game Makers Academy, a hands-on homeschool curriculum that teaches children to think like designers, engineers, storytellers, mathematicians, and entrepreneurs. Rather than simply playing games, learners investigate how games work, discover the hidden principles behind great game design, and then create an original tabletop game of their own.

During the first six weeks, learners become Game Investigators, exploring strategy games, card games, cooperative games, word games, trivia games, and party games. They analyze rules, goals, challenges, themes, player choices, and game components while strengthening critical thinking, communication, probability, logic, creativity, and observation skills.

The second half of the course transforms learners into Game Architects. Using a professional design process, students brainstorm ideas, build prototypes, conduct playtests, gather feedback, revise their designs, and produce a polished, playable game complete with rules, components, and packaging. The semester concludes with a celebratory Game Launch Event where learners proudly share their creations with family and friends.

Designed around inquiry-based learning and Socratic discussion, this facilitator-guided curriculum encourages curiosity, creativity, innovation, and real-world problem solving while naturally integrating multiple academic subjects.
