A Homeschool Course in Storytelling, Sentence Building, and the Living Structure of Words

Story Makers and Living Grammar is an engaging, hands-on Language Arts curriculum that teaches young learners to become confident storytellers while naturally discovering the building blocks of written language. Designed for homeschool families with children in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade (ages 5 to 8), this facilitator-guided course weaves storytelling, conversation, movement, nature, and creative play into a gentle introduction to grammar.
Rather than drilling worksheets, children learn through meaningful experiences. They explore the shape of every story, meet memorable characters, discover colorful settings, and gradually uncover the purpose of nouns (naming words), verbs (moving words), and adjectives (painting words) as they create stories of their own. Every grammar lesson is immediately connected to authentic writing, helping children understand not only what language is, but why it matters.
Throughout six thoughtfully designed units, learners will:
Discover the beginning, middle, and end of every story.
Learn to recognize characters and settings.
Build a strong foundation in nouns, verbs, adjectives, and complete sentences.
Practice observation, creativity, and descriptive language.
Create an original illustrated storybook to share with family and friends.
Build a portfolio that celebrates growth instead of grades.
The course follows the educational philosophy of From Earth to Sky Education, encouraging curiosity, discussion, creativity, and hands-on exploration rather than rote memorization. Through Socratic conversations, storytelling, movement activities, nature walks, games, and meaningful projects, children learn that grammar is alive because it helps us communicate ideas, imagination, and wonder.
